The Rubber Room is a site specific performance workshop developed with University of Minnesota theater students and Southwest staff and students at Southwest High School, Minneapolis, MN. Together, they have devised a 24-hour performance based on the rubber rooms or “temporary reassignment centers” for “incompetent” teachers in the New York City Public School system.
Performed at Southwest High School in Minneapolis,The Rubber Room incorporates true stories from teachers, current union contract issues and the overall drudgery of spending too much time in the same room.
